STAINLESS STEEL COOKING GRIDS CLEANING GUIDE

With a light wire brush, clean the grill. The bristles may be made of stainless steel or brass and will perform admirably.

Preheat your grill to high heat (about 500°F) if brushing does not work. Allow this to run for around 5 to 10 minutes.

Brush your teeth again. Man, you’re being obstinate. If it is still not cleaning, lay a piece of tinfoil, shiny side down, on your grids and place it over the troublesome spot to see if it would help. Leave the foil in place for 5 to 10 minutes before scrubbing it again.

Allow your grids to cool somewhat once the offending crud has been wiped off of them. Cooking oil, such as Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, or Lard, should be rubbed into the grids while wearing protective gloves.

The remaining heat from the cleaning process should aid in the bonding of the fats to the metal, resulting in an excellent non-stick surface. This process is quite similar to seasoning cast iron. Don’t forget to coat the grids with oil before you start cooking.

Cleaning Cast Iron Cooking Grids is similar to caring for that wonderful frying pan that has been in the family for generations. If, for any reason, rust appears on the surface of these grids, carefully scrape it away with steel wool before repeating the curing procedure until the rust is gone.

You may clean your grids with warm soapy water, but be sure to rinse them well and dry them as soon as possible. Also, I strongly advise you to do this while they aren’t scorching hot!

Once the grids have been well cleaned and dried, they should be rubbed down with a firm fat such as Lard, Coconut, or Palm Oil. Heat your grill to a high temperature (about 500°F), then turn it off and let it to cool fully.

This causes the lipids to adhere to the metal, seasoning it in the same way that magnificent old frying pan did. It’s important to remember to clean your grill thoroughly after each usage by using a gentler brush such as the Abrasive Scrubber to remove any particles that may have gotten caught during the cooking process.
